Problem to Solve
UPS faces a new challenge as Amazon enters the business-to-business (B2B) logistics market. As Amazon grows in this area, UPS needs to adapt quickly. The goal is not just to keep up with Amazon, but to stay ahead. UPS must innovate and improve its services to remain competitive in B2B logistics. This means preparing for market changes, strengthening UPS's position, and developing a strong plan to counter Amazon's growth while maintaining UPS's leadership in the industry.
My Role
As Lead Product Designer, I collaborated with a diverse team including business strategists, consultants, product managers, engineers, and UPS team members. We started by defining the problem and brainstorming multiple concepts, eventually selecting one for our MVP.
Our process involved on-site ethnographic research where i led one of the groups, conducting the user testing. I worked on both client and consumer sides of the platform, leading the design team while also contributing hands-on design work.
My role involved close collaboration with clients, business leaders, engineers, and product managers. I set the overall design direction and branding, created designs myself, and focused on developing a strong user experience across all aspects of the project.
Throughout the process, I presented early prototypes in meetings that included UPS C-Suite members, ensuring high-level buy-in and alignment with company goals.
What We Built
Business Side: We created an easy-to-use interface that helps businesses spread their inventory across the US. This lets them meet client needs better by improving their logistics and distribution.
Warehouse Side: We built a system for warehouses to track inventory accurately. The interface shows real-time inventory data, helping warehouses make better decisions and work more efficiently.
Our two-sided platform meets both business and warehouse needs. It connects smart distribution with careful inventory tracking. This approach makes inventory management more efficient, making our platform stand out in logistics and distribution.
